Committees

Ambassadors

This committee is the goodwill and social arm of the organization.  Ambassadors, fondly known as "the Red Coats," visit area businesses, welcoming them to the community or celebrating their accomplishments and milestones. This is a year-round obligation, but oh-so-fun!

Lean In

This committee is a diverse group of professional women focusing on the advancement of women in a modern economy. Getting women together to share their challenges and struggles and overcome barriers to success. 

Golf Classic

The committee assists the staff in hosting its major social/fundraising event of the year, the Annual Golf Classic. It includes the marketing of teams and hole sponsors, prize collection, food planning, fundraising, and coordination of festivities of the day. Meetings are held between April and August. The event is held the last Friday in July of each year.


Rodeo

The committee meets to organize and promote the Partners in Progress Rodeo. It includes securing sponsors and food vendors, plus marketing of the event and coodinating activities of the day. The event is held during "Cowboy Christmas" in July.

Eggs and Issues

Quarterly breakfast with timely topic presentations in economic and community development interests. This networking event brings the Ottumwa community and GOPIP member businesses together.

Holiday Nights 'N Lights

The committee meets to organize and promote Holiday Nights 'N Lights, a classic, one-mile light display in Greater Ottumwa Park. Holiday Nights 'N Lights is an awesome community event that attracts visitors from all over Iowa and many adjoining states, plus visitors from all over the world. 


Gene Schultz Award

The committee meets prior to the Annual  Banquet to carefully select the recipient for the Gene Schultz Community Service Award, based on special or outstanding service to the community. Founded by his widow Rose Schultz, this is a most prestigious recognition for civic engagement. 

Lemonade Day

Lemonade Day is an educational initiative that introduces youth (grades 3-5) to entrepreneurship, teaching them how to start, own, and operate their own business – a lemonade stand!

Economic Development Committee

The Economic Development Committee is comprised of community leaders who have a direct impact in progressing the economic development initiatives of both Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress and the Ottumwa region.


Membership Awareness/Campaign

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to ensure membership recruitment is sustainable and the benefits offered are comparable to the return on investment.  This committee will provide feedback and insight into the needs for the GOPIP membership. Offered as a great networking opportunity, the committee meets year-round, typically every other month. 

Legislative Committee

The purpose of the Legislative Committee is to ensure that GOPIP acts as a legislative voice for economic and community development in the Region, specifically issues affecting the GOPIP strategic plan.
