Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress is looking for an outgoing, organized and community-minded professional to join our team.

This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, developing partnerships, planning meaningful events and turning ideas into action. You’ll work directly with local businesses, community leaders, volunteers and organizations to strengthen GOPIP’s relationships and advance the Greater Ottumwa region.

Starting salary: $40,000 plus uncapped commission

The Opportunity

The Investor & Events Coordinator plays an important role in connecting GOPIP with the businesses, organizations and people we serve.

You’ll help welcome and support GOPIP investors, develop sponsorships and partnerships, coordinate signature events and create new opportunities that support our organization’s mission and financial goals.

No two weeks will look exactly the same. One day might include meeting with a local business owner, and the next could involve planning a major community event, coordinating volunteers or celebrating a new business at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This position is ideal for someone who is energized by people, enjoys variety and wants their work to make a visible difference in the community.

What You’ll Do

Build and Strengthen Relationships

Serve as a primary connection between GOPIP and its investors
Develop strong relationships with local businesses, community organizations and regional partners
Welcome new investors and help existing investors make the most of their involvement
Identify opportunities for new memberships, sponsorships and strategic partnerships
Represent GOPIP professionally throughout the community

Plan Memorable Events and Programs

Coordinate GOPIP programs, signature events and community activities
Manage event timelines, logistics, vendors, volunteers and committees
Help secure sponsorships and other event revenue
Develop new programs and event ideas that support GOPIP’s mission
Assist with event setup, registration, execution and follow-up

Help GOPIP Grow

Work toward annual membership, sponsorship and revenue goals
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Digital Media Specialist
Work with leadership committees, volunteers, Strategic Partners and community leaders
Maintain accurate records and follow up consistently with prospects and investors
Look for creative ways to strengthen GOPIP’s reach, impact and financial sustainability

Experience in membership development, sales, fundraising, sponsorships, event planning, hospitality, customer relations, nonprofit work or community engagement would translate especially well to this position.

Qualifications

At least two years of relevant professional experience
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated success in relationship-building, sales, fundraising, events, customer service or a related field
Valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance as required by the State of Iowa
Ability to meet the organization’s driving and insurance requirements
Satisfactory completion of required background checks
Ability to periodically work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and assist with event setup and other physical activities
